Sealing polished floors using a base coat

17 Apr 2023

An application of base coat to flooring ensures a seal prior to polish being applied, ideal to use on floors which are old and worn. The base cost stops subsequent coats of polish soaking into an untreated floor, reducing the number of overall coats of polish required.

Equipment you will need

  • 03-381 - Resilience Base Coat, 250m² coverage per 5L
  • 13-POLAP - Polish applicator
  • 13-HP19 - Oblong Bucket
  • 15-605 - Wet floor sign

Method

  1. Ensure floor is completely clean and free from old polish. See how handy ‘How to strip floor polish’ guide for more information.
  2. Allow to dry for 1 hour and then coat with chosen polish. See ‘Polishing floors’ guide.
  3. Pour some Resilience into the oblong bucket.
  4. Using the applicator, apply Resilience in a thin even coat applying north-south direction.
  5. Allow to dry for approximately 30 mins.
  6. Apply another thin coat, this time in the east-west direction.
  7. Allow to dry for 1 hour and then coat with chosen polish.
